About Me

Kylie Mort is a multi-award-winning author, registered teacher, psychology-trained educator, learning and executive function coach, and creator of practical educational resources designed to make learning more accessible.

Now based in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Kylie works with students, families and adult learners both online and, where appropriate, through local client meet-ups across the Cairns region.

With more than 20 years of experience in education, Kylie’s work has evolved far beyond traditional tutoring.

Her approach brings together education, psychology, executive functioning, mindset and the mind-body connection, recognising that successful learning is not simply about knowing the content — it is also about understanding how an individual thinks, processes information, manages demands, builds confidence and learns to work with their own brain.

A former Secondary School Teacher and VCE Leader, Kylie is a qualified and registered teacher, qualified yoga teacher and experienced coach. She later returned to Deakin University as an alumna to undertake postgraduate study in Psychological Science, further developing the psychological and evidence-informed foundations that now underpin her work with learners and families.

In 2026, Kylie’s focus is on making high-quality learning support more accessible, practical and independent.

Alongside her individual coaching and tuition, she continues to develop the Kylie Mort Learning Hub — an expanding digital learning resource designed to break complex skills into manageable, psychologically informed steps. The Hub supports learners across foundational literacy, Australian Curriculum English, senior secondary English and practical life and learning skills, with new resources and formats continually added in response to learner needs.

Kylie is also the author of The Psychology of Parenting and ADHD, a practical, psychology-based parenting resource exploring how children and teenagers think, regulate, learn and respond to the world around them.

Her work builds upon her background as the multi-award-winning author of Little People Big Emotions and reflects her ongoing commitment to translating psychological and educational theory into strategies people can actually use in everyday life.

Now calling tropical Far North Queensland home, Kylie continues to work with clients across Australia online while welcoming opportunities to connect with new local clients in Cairns and surrounding areas.

Sometimes the most productive conversations do not need to happen in a classroom or office — they can begin over a coffee in one of FNQ’s beautiful cafés while discussing learning, executive functioning, educational goals and the next practical steps forward.

Kylie’s vocation remains helping people understand how they learn, recognise their strengths, develop the skills that challenge them and build the confidence to move forward independently.

At the heart of her work is the belief that education should do more than improve academic results. It should give people the knowledge, strategies, self-awareness and confidence to advocate for themselves, trust their capabilities and continue learning long after the coaching session ends.

Learn. Understand. Build confidence. Become independent.
